Highly efficient development organizations - recognizing and extending performance limits.

The product portfolio of technology oriented companies, such as in automotive, railway, heavy vehicle, or aviation industry etc., is growing bigger and bigger making further growth possible. The burden on development organizations in handling necessary portfolios for simultaneously running development projects is therewith becoming heavier. Performance limits are faced. Efficiency seems to be the crucial lever, if more projects are to be handled at an unchanged organization size.

But what are the characteristics of a highly efficient organization? What are typical indicators for reasonably measuring and directing efficiency, for evaluating performance and knowing its limits? What are necessary frameworks and what the critical success factors in becoming more efficient and thereby extending performance limits? Is effectiveness a vital precondition for efficiency?
